1. PRECIPITATION ONSET:
Freezing rain could begin as early as 3–6 AM Friday morning.

2. TRANSITION TO RAIN:

Warmer air may lead to a transition from frozen precipitation to rain by midday for areas south of Griffin, Thomaston, and Macon. Some areas near and north of these locations could still experience freezing rain or sleet for longer durations.

3. ICE ACCUMULATIONS:

Minor ice accumulations (up to 0.10–0.25 inches) are possible in portions of northern Central Georgia near the I-85 corridor. Impacts may include slick roads, especially on untreated bridges and overpasses.

4. TRAVEL IMPACTS:

Temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s at the storm's onset could cause rapid freezing of precipitation on surfaces, leading to hazardous travel conditions.

5. DURATION OF IMPACTS

Precipitation is expected to taper off late Friday night into early Saturday. Some areas may see lingering impacts from refreezing Saturday night, especially where ice accumulations occurred.

6. UNCERTAINTY:

The extent of freezing rain versus rain remains uncertain and will depend on the exact temperature profile and the intrusion of warm air.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CENTRAL GEORGIA RESIDENTS:

- Plan for hazardous travel Friday morning and possibly into the evening.

- Monitor updates for potential winter weather advisories or changes in precipitation types.

- Stay prepared for possible power outages in areas with higher ice accumulations.

- Take precautions for freezing conditions overnight into Saturday.
